BOOKS
A friend, Jay Margrave, has self-published a book called THE GAWAIN QUEST. It is a pacy, sexy, romping story, in which Gawain follows the course described in the famous poem about him, recently translated anew by Simon Armitage. The book can be bought from www.goldenford.co.uk I have just been to the launch party in Guildford (June 07) and there is a lot of interest in it. Self-publishing is very risky, especially for fiction, but the book does deserve attention.
Death at Dawn by Caro Peacock. Published by HarperCollins
This is one of those books you just don''t want to finish. Liberty Lane is a spirited girl who finds herself in the middle of a serious adventure, in 1837. The historical detail is delicious, the suspense at times acute and the pace just right. I loved it.
